ISA 3.0 Examination – Frequency and Attempt Cycle The Information Systems Audit (ISA 3.0) Assessment Test, administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), is a crucial post-qualification exam for Chartered Accountants who wish to specialize in information systems audit. The exam is designed to test the competence of members who have undergone the prescribed Professional Training (PT) in alignment with ICAI’s ISA 3.0 Syllabus. Exam Frequency The ISA 3.0 exam is conducted twice a year by ICAI, typically during the following cycles:

  • June Session (Usually in the last week of June)
  • December Session (Usually in the last week of December)
These dates are subject to change based on ICAI’s annual calendar, and official notifications are published on the ICAI website and Digital Learning Hub. 

  Key Requirements to Appear for the ISA 3.0 Exam 

 Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria before applying for the exam: 

 1. Completion of ISA 3.0 Professional Training (PT): 

 Candidates must have completed all classroom sessions (or online equivalent) of the PT modules. o Attendance and participation in live sessions are monitored. 

 2. Completion of E-Learning Modules and Assessments: 

 Self-paced online learning is a mandatory part of the curriculum. o Candidates are required to complete topic-wise online assessments for each module. 

 3. Eligibility Confirmation Test (ECT): 

 Before appearing for the main Assessment Test, candidates must clear the Eligibility Test, which ensures foundational understanding of the subject matter. o ICAI typically conducts the ECT a few weeks before the final exam. 

 4. Exam Application: 

 o Separate application is required for each exam attempt. o Registration is done online through ICAI’s Digital Learning Hub or exam portal. o Candidates are required to pay a nominal exam fee (amount may vary). 

  Exam Pattern & Structure

  • Format: Objective-type or case-based multiple-choice questions (as per latest pattern)
  • Coverage: Six core modules under ISA 3.0 including:
    • Information Systems Concepts
    • Governance and Management of Enterprise IT
    • System Development: Acquisition, Maintenance & Implementation
    • Information Systems Operations
    • Protection of Information Assets
    • Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
